El Teniente mineral by-products recovery initiative

CNP Corporation is pursuing a proposed mineral recovery and export project involving residual materials associated with Codelco's El Teniente Division in Chile.

The concept is to evaluate eligible molybdenum-bearing by-products and other potentially valuable mineral materials, then process, dry and prepare suitable material for export, subject to contractual arrangements and technical verification.

  • Identify and evaluate suitable mineral materials
  • Undertake representative sampling and independent analysis
  • Assess recovery and separation options where feasible
  • Develop drying, storage, packaging and export arrangements

From material preparation to export

The proposed processing pathway is intended to prepare suitable mineral materials for handling, storage, transportation and international shipment. The final flowsheet and product specifications will depend on testing and buyer requirements.

STEP 01

Receiving & Inspection

Weighing, sampling, inspection and quality-control checks.

STEP 02

Recovery & Separation

Evaluate suitable concentration or separation methods based on testing.

STEP 03

Drying

Reduce moisture to an appropriate level for handling and shipment.

STEP 04

Storage & Packaging

Prepare material for controlled storage, packing and loading.

STEP 05

Export

Develop supply arrangements with qualified international buyers.

Processing Infrastructure

Drying, handling and packaging systems

The project plan contemplates development of a mineral treatment area, drying equipment, storage and packing systems, with facility design to be confirmed through engineering and regulatory review.

  • Drying and moisture-reduction equipment
  • Mineral treatment and handling systems
  • Storage and loading arrangements
  • Packaging for transportation and export

Material handling & preparation

Processing, screening or separation may be considered when supported by material characterization and technical-economic evaluation.
